It's good to know words that aren't in any books. I was in the military with some homeboys from East LA. They used these words a lot. They used these words, but I couldn't remember half of them it has been so long ago. I am taking Spanish now and it is nice to know descriptive words in another language. Each country has it very own vocabulary of descriptive words. Coger means one thing in Mexico and another in Spain to take or catch. Cojer means to screw in Mexico and most Amercians using this word don't know it's true meaning when they use it.conmigowalter

I found your site because I was trying to find out if there was any defintion to the word "ay". I'm always using it. But when I write to my white friends, I'm not sure they get it. But sometimes you just have to put it in front of a sentance to make the sentence mean more. Like the sentence I wrote today, I said "Ay, I was trying to go get some coffee and Feliz freaked". I don't know thats how I talk, I use the word "ay" alot. Of corse I'm a valley girl, so I also use the word "like" alot. Go figure!!!! bye bye....let me know what a good defintion for "ay" is. I am Spanish, Cuban and Mexican. So you can understand how funny it is to see a website that addresses how Spanish words can be used in different cultures. A lot of the words listed are innocent in some cultures and very insulting in others. The reason I did a search for such a site is that my mother had used a word, I won't say which, for years. She said it in anger and told me she did not know what it would translate to in English. Now I know. I do not know a lot of Mexican slang and I find it amusing that people who do not speak Spanish want to share their knowledge of "dirty" words in Spanish. I have a suggestion for your website. Let people share their funny stories about how Spanish slang was used incorrectly in very embarrassing situations. You have a great site, keep up the good work. S
